Overnight stays in a camper van or motorhome in Andorra: what you need to know in 2025
🚐 Planning a trip to Andorra in your camper van or motorhome? Be aware: new regulations are now in place. Since March 2025, Law 5/2025 on Sustainable Growth and the Right to Housing has introduced strict rules on where you can legally spend the night.
❌ Where is overnight parking prohibited?
According to the new law, you can only spend the night in campsites or specifically designated areas. Sleeping in your vehicle is prohibited in:
-
Public or private parking lots that are not officially designated for it.
-
Roadside areas, sidewalks, or non-authorized natural spaces.
-
Urban areas or residential zones without specific signage.
📌 This applies to motorhomes, camper vans, and converted vans of any size.
🚫 When is it considered “overnight stay”?
Even if your vehicle is just parked, it is considered an overnight stay if:
- There are people inside the vehicle during the night or during regulated hours.
🏕️ When is it considered “camping”?
Camping is considered to take place when:
-
The vehicle is in contact with the ground on points other than the wheels (e.g. stabilizing legs, chocks, etc.).
-
Any external element is deployed (awning, table, chairs...).
-
There are emissions (water, gas) or noise beyond normal vehicle operation.
💸 What happens if I don’t comply?
Fines can reach up to €600. Responsibility may fall on the driver or any of the occupants if the offender is not clearly identified.
The Andorran Police are in charge of inspections and enforcement.
